World Oil's 100-Year Anniversary
Ocean Industry—The end of an era

In November 1992, after a print run lasting a little over 26 years, GPC published its last issue of Ocean Industry. The magazine had over 30,000 subscribers in 88 countries, but the decision to discontinue the magazine was necessitated by a prolonged period of depression—and diminished revenues—in the upstream oil and gas industry. However, despite the change, GPC remained committed to providing “quality” offshore editorial. Sister publications, World Oil and Pipe Line Industry, filled the void by expanding their existing offshore coverage. Ocean Industry began life in April 1966 as a publication of Ocean Industry Co., shortly before it was acquired by GPC.
