PARIS -- CGG has announced another major commitment to its Gulf of Mexico StagSeis multi-client program with the prefunding of the entire 871-offshore-block program by an international E&P company. Representing over 20,000 sq km, this new full-program commitment for all three StagSeis surveys, IBALT, DEUX and TROIS, comes in addition to significant prefunding by several other E&P companies.

NEW ORLEANS (Bloomberg) -- BP Plc’s bid for a new trial over causes of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill should be rejected because the judge didn’t rely on excluded testimony, Halliburton Co. said in court papers. BP’s own lawyers are responsible for trial testimony that the London-based oil company complains led to an unfair gross- negligence finding against it, according to Halliburton, the cementing subcontractor on the blown-out well.

SAN RAMON, California -- Chevron Corporation has made a new oil discovery at the Guadalupe prospect in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The Keathley Canyon Block 10 Well No. 1 encountered significant oil pay in the Lower Tertiary Wilcox Sands. The well is located approximately 180 miles off the Louisiana coast in 3,992 ft of water and was drilled to a depth of 30,173 ft.

SAN RAMON, California (Bloomberg) -- Chevron Corp. is delaying developing a second phase of a deepsea natural gas project off Indonesia’s Borneo island due to start in 2019. The final investment decision for Gendalo-Gehem won’t be taken this year, a Chevron spokesman said in an emailed statement Oct. 15. The San Ramon, California-based company has yet to submit a revised development plan for it, Zudaldi Rafdi, a spokesman at SKK Migas, Indonesia’s upstream oil regulator, said in a phone interview Oct. 15.

READING, United Kingdom -- BG Group has announced the early start of production from the Iracema area in block BM-S-11, one of the Group’s and its partners’ significant discoveries in the Santos basin, offshore Brazil. Petrobras is the operator. The Cidade de Mangaratiba FPSO is the first unit deployed on the Iracema development and the fourth FPSO to date to have started up across the partners’ interests in blocks BM-S-9 and BM-S-11 in the first phase of development of the pre-salt Santos basin.

RIO DE JANEIRO – The Libra consortium has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Odebrecht/Teekay (OOG-Teekay), winner of a tender process, for the charter of a FPSO-type platform designed for the extended well test campaign at the Libra area, in the Santos basin pre-salt. The delivery of the FPSO and the start-up of the first extended well test are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2016. The plan is to conduct tests in several areas of the block, in order to evaluate the production performance and acquire information about the Libra area. Based on these data, future definitive production systems will be later designed.
