The LK7-1-1 exploration well was drilled and completed at a depth of approximately 4,400 m, which encountered a total of 76 m oil and gas pay zones. The well was tested to produce about 210 cubic meters of crude oil and nearly 1 MMcmgd, a new record for natural gas tested productivity in Bohai Bay.

The Al-Nukhida field, east of the Gulf state’s Failaka Island, has initial estimated reserves of about 2.1 Bbbl of light oil and 5.1 Tcfg, or 3.2 Bboe, in the Manageesh strata, state-owned KOC said on Sunday.

Electromagnetic Geoservices ASA has entered into an agreement for a fully pre-funded offshore Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) seismic survey in the Barents Sea. This survey, which will be undertaken in collaboration with Velocitas Geo Solutions, marks EMGS' first venture into seismic node projects.

The company expects to drill as many as five wells within the Northern Cape Ultra Deep license block, about 300 km (186 miles) offshore the west coast of South Africa in depths up to 3,200 m. Shell and TotalEnergies SE made oil and gas discoveries in Namibian waters north of the block starting in 2022.

Eni has made a new discovery on the Yopaat-1 EXP exploration well in Block 9, approximately 63 km off the coast in the mid-deep water of the Cuenca Salina in the Sureste basin offshore Mexico. The preliminary estimates indicate a discovered potential of around 300-400 MMboe of oil and associated gas in place.

TotalEnergies plans to relinquish the license for Block 11B/12B because it doubts whether the complex deepwater finds can be made commercially viable, given South Africa’s small gas market. ExxonMobil has started appraisal drilling at its Lau-Lau 2 well site in the prolific Stabroek Block offshore Guyana, where it had previously discovered over 300 ft of oil at the Lau-Lau 1 well. The Maritime Administration Department announced that this appraisal, conducted by the drillship MODU Noble Sam Croft, will run from June 16 to July 31, 2024.

Under this agreement, TGS holds the exclusive rights to license all of Tanzania’s offshore mainland data on behalf of the government. The agreement also grants TGS the authority to conduct future acquisition of new seismic data and to reprocess existing data. Additionally, it includes support for upcoming licensing rounds, which are anticipated to commence in 2025.

Preliminary evaluation of the offshore gas condensate discovery indicates gross recoverable resources in the range of 16-38 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) with a mean of 25 MMboe, well above predrill estimates. Just over half of the resources were encountered in the Middle Jurassic primary target, and the balance in the Upper Jurassic secondary target.
