arrow What's New In Production

American Central Gas Technologies and eLynx detail their experience helping Devon Energy in East Texas field with 432 operating wells¾ one of the largest natural gas producing fields in the U.S. An automated, web-based well-monitoring system was installed to manage 24,000 hp of compression that was scattered throughout the field. Devon realized a $.06/Mcf plus a net gain of 18 more wells per man in manpower savings.

Completion Engineers describes a new method of well completion that eliminates the need for high-density completion fluids, as well as allowing the rig to move off location sooner by completing the well from a barge or platform with wireline, braided line or coiled tubing.

A report on seismic stimulation for enhanced oil recovery from Norway’s Eureka Oil. The report gives a description of this unique technology, which features a hydraulic hammer plus electricity injection from the surface. Case studies illustrate how it is being applied in Texas, Venezuela and elsewhere.

arrow Drilling Technology

Case study of the first use of Schlumberger’s new slimhole rotary steerable technology. Schlumberger and Oxy describe the use of this novel technology in Oman.

arrow Exploration Remote Sensing/GIS

Encana (formerly Pancanadian Energy) describes its experience with digital workflows using Landsat images for structural analysis in eastern Yemen. The interpreted structure maps and faults were combined with well and seismic data to develop 2D structural cross-sections and 3D models.

Earth Satellite Corp. discusses two ways it is using remote sensing with GIS to help it clients in exploration: fracture detection and orientation to enable better drilling decisions, and new methodologies for seep detection.

arrow Brazil Focus

An activity report on exploration, production and drilling in Brazil, including a look at the current roster of foreign-held concession tracts after the most recent bidding round, a sampling of the latest exploration highlights, a round-up of significant projects that Petrobrás has underway, and an examination of deepwater work and trends.

arrow  Plus
