Fig. 8. Principle of Dual Action Pump System. On upstroke, larger lower plunger draws in water from lower valve and lifts oil / water through smaller upper plunger into tubing. On downstroke, lower plunger driven by rod and tubing fluid weight, draws in oil / water through upper inlet and pumps water downward through injection valve to disposal zone below packer.
