Metaseis platform targets scalable seismic data management for upstream workflows
(WO) - Moveout Data has launched Metaseis, a seismic data management and transformation software platform designed to help operators and service companies process and prepare large-scale datasets for upstream workflows.
The UK-based company said the platform builds on technology it has used internally since 2014, enabling organizations to organize, validate and optimize seismic data more efficiently across existing systems.
Metaseis is designed as a platform-agnostic solution, operating across Linux and Windows environments to integrate with existing geophysical workflows while minimizing setup time and operational disruption. The software supports a range of functions, including tape transcription, data reformatting, sorting, quality control, validation and metadata extraction.
“These capabilities are increasingly important as operators manage growing volumes of legacy and newly acquired seismic data,” the company said, noting that unstructured datasets can limit accessibility and delay interpretation.
Managing Director Darren McDonald said the platform reflects years of operational use in handling large-scale datasets. “Metaseis has enabled us to respond quickly to client needs and evolve continuously through processing petabytes of real-world data,” he said. “By bringing it to the global market, we are giving clients access to the same capabilities that have supported our delivery.”
The platform has also been deployed in industry initiatives such as the UK National Data Repository, where it was used to support data standardization and regulatory compliance.
According to Moveout Data, Metaseis is designed by geophysicists with a focus on usability and rapid deployment. “Users can be up and running within hours, avoiding the need for extensive training while still benefiting from enterprise-grade functionality,” McDonald said.
The launch comes as operators increasingly look to standardize seismic datasets for cloud-based workflows and advanced analytics. By improving data preparation and accessibility, platforms such as Metaseis aim to reduce processing time and support the application of machine learning in subsurface interpretation.
Moveout Data said trial licenses of the software are now available for evaluation.
