DUG secures offshore Malaysia seismic imaging contract with Searcher
DUG Technology, in partnership with Searcher Seismic, has signed an agreement to undertake multi-client 3D seismic data reprocessing offshore East Sarawak, Malaysia, aimed at supporting future exploration and development activity in the region.
Under the agreement, the companies will reprocess more than 60 legacy 3D seismic surveys covering up to 45,000 sq km using original field data. The project will apply advanced full waveform inversion (FWI) imaging and pre-stack processing workflows to generate a unified, high-resolution 3D seismic dataset across the reprocessing area.
The reprocessed data will be made available on a multi-client basis to exploration and production companies, enabling improved evaluation of remaining hydrocarbon potential in and around existing fields and infrastructure offshore East Sarawak.
The project is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with interim data expected to support early acreage assessments and final deliverables anticipated from early 2027.
DUG and Searcher said the initiative is intended to enhance subsurface imaging and provide updated seismic interpretation tools for operators active in Malaysia’s offshore sector, where ongoing exploration and redevelopment continue to target remaining resources in mature producing areas.
