Chariot initiates onshore drilling in Morocco with spudding of new well
(WO) — Chariot Ltd., an Africa-focused transitional energy group, has announced the commencement of drilling operations at the Loukos Onshore license in Morocco. The company, serving as operator with a 75% stake alongside ONHYM at 25%, has initiated drilling at the Gaufrette prospect with the spudding of the RZK-1 well.
The drilling campaign marks a significant milestone for Chariot Limited, with the Gaufrette Main target boasting Best Estimate recoverable prospective resources of 10 Bcf. Additionally, the campaign includes the option to explore a deeper target, identified through newly reprocessed 3D seismic data.
Success at Gaufrette could unlock combined Best Estimate recoverable prospective resources of 26 Bcf when considering other geologically linked prospects in the area. Results from the drilling operations will be disclosed upon completion.
Duncan Wallace, technical director of Chariot, expressed enthusiasm for the campaign, highlighting its significance as the company's first drilling operation of the year. Wallace also underscored the team's efforts in initiating drilling within ten months of license acquisition and acknowledged ONHYM for their support and collaboration. Further updates on the drilling results are anticipated in the future.
