U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R - Alaska) has highlighted the importance of allowing American crude oil to compete in the global marketplace and said that lifting the ban on oil exports was a “crucial issue” at the intersection of national security and energy policy. Murkowski, chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, pressed the issue of lifting the ban in a speech on Thursday on the Senate floor.
