Weatherford to acquire NCS Multistage, expanding completions portfolio
(WO) — Weatherford has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire NCS Multistage, a move that will expand its well completions portfolio and strengthen its position in the unconventional oil and gas sector.
Weatherford said NCS Multistage brings complementary technologies focused on well completions and field development, including solutions designed to improve performance and reliability in complex well environments. The company expects the acquisition to enhance its ability to support customers throughout the completion lifecycle, from well design and construction through production optimization and late-life interventions.
“The acquisition of NCS Multistage is a natural complement to our completions strategy and enhances the application fit of our well construction products portfolio,” said Girish Saligram, President and Chief Executive Officer of Weatherford. “NCS Multistage's technology is expected to enhance our ability to serve customers across the completion lifecycle while deepening our exposure to the growing unconventional resource market.”
Weatherford said the transaction will expand its offerings in the completions segment and provide opportunities to deploy NCS technologies across its global customer base. The company also expects to realize at least $15 million in annual cost synergies within 18 months of closing.

The transaction has been approved by the boards of both companies and is expected to close during the second half of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
Until the transaction is completed, Weatherford and NCS Multistage will continue to operate as separate companies.
