(WO) - Sun Petrochemicals Pvt. Ltd. has selected Sercel WiNG 3C nodes for what the companies described as India’s first 3C MEMS nodal seismic survey, marking a technology milestone for the country’s upstream sector.

The 4D monitor seismic survey will be acquired in Gujarat, western India, by Khushi Oilfield Services, an affiliate of Asian Energy Services Ltd..

Sercel said its WiNG 3C nodal system uses QuietSeis MEMS technology to acquire high-resolution seismic data aimed at improving subsurface imaging, reservoir characterization and monitoring in complex geological settings.

The cable-free nodal system is designed for high-density seismic acquisition with a smaller operational footprint and improved flexibility in challenging terrain.

“The deployment of WiNG 3C for this project marks an important milestone for seismic acquisition in India,” said Satyesh Bhandari, head of exploration at SunPetro. He added that the technology is expected to improve reservoir characterization, strengthen subsurface understanding and help reduce drilling risk.

Sercel CEO Jérôme Denigot said the project reflects growing industry adoption of advanced digital seismic technologies capable of delivering “more reliable, higher quality data for optimum seismic imaging.”

The survey also highlights continued investment in advanced seismic acquisition and reservoir monitoring technologies as operators seek greater accuracy and efficiency in exploration and development programs.
