Unity lands North Sea decommissioning, well intervention contracts

(WO) — Unity has secured more than £6 million in new offshore contracts, including a multi-million-pound North Sea well decommissioning project, as the company expands its well integrity and international operations.

The Aberdeen-based company said the award includes a full scope of plugging and abandonment (P&A) services for a global operator in the North Sea, with inspection work already underway.

Additional recent awards include three contract extensions, two master service agreements with oilfield service companies and a 15-well thru-tubing services campaign tied to offshore well intervention activity.

Unity said the contracts build on recent investment in its well intervention and well integrity technology portfolio, allowing operators to source integrated services through a single provider.

“This has been a landmark phase of progression and uplift for Unity,” said Gary Smart, CEO of Unity. “We have made significant investment in our technology portfolio to ensure we can provide operators with assurance of well integrity from production to abandonment.”

The company said it has maintained more than 1,000 wells and completed over 300 well abandonment operations during its three decades of offshore operations.

Unity is also accelerating international growth efforts, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, where the company recently established operations in Perth, Australia.

Stuart Slater, previously based in Aberdeen, has relocated to Australia to lead Unity’s Asia-Pacific expansion strategy. According to the company, Unity has already secured initial offshore projects supporting mature assets in Australia and Malaysia.

The company said it plans to add 17 employees this year to support growing activity across offshore well integrity, intervention and decommissioning markets.

Unity operates as part of the FrontRow Energy Technology Group and maintains offices in Aberdeen, Great Yarmouth, Esbjerg, Houston and Perth.
