Petro Victory reports stacked gas pay in SJ-12 well, offshore Brazil

(WO) - Petro Victory Energy Corp. has reported multiple hydrocarbon-bearing intervals in its SJ-12 well in the São João field, located in Brazil’s Barreirinhas basin, confirming a stacked gas reservoir system. 

The well was drilled to a total depth of 3,180 m and encountered approximately 280 m of gross interval across the Bom Gosto–Arpoador formation. Integrated petrophysical analysis identified 72 m of net gas pay across five zones, with an additional 45 m of oil shows in shallower intervals.

“The SJ-12 well significantly exceeds our expectations and marks a major milestone in the development of the São João Field,” said CEO Richard F. Gonzalez. “We have confirmed a robust and active petroleum system, with clear stacked pay potential.”

Wireline logging and formation testing indicated pressure continuity across the reservoir, supporting the presence of a connected hydrocarbon system. Gas samples recovered during testing were consistent with low-density gas under downhole conditions.

The results reinforce the São João field development concept, particularly the potential for stacked pay zones and multiple productive intervals within the same structure. A well testing program is planned to further evaluate deliverability and reservoir performance.
