Odfjell Technology signs P&A technology deal for Southeast Asia wells
(WO) - Odfjell Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding with Applied New Technologies (ANT) to deploy an erosion-based tool for well plug and abandonment (P&A) operations across Southeast Asia.
The agreement centers on integrating ANT’s abrasive suspension (WAS) technology into Odfjell’s rigless intervention services. The system is designed to remove internal wellbore obstructions without mechanical force or heat, helping preserve well integrity while restoring access for abandonment operations.
The technology will be deployed alongside Odfjell’s fishing and milling capabilities, reducing reliance on full drilling rigs and enabling more efficient P&A execution.
Southeast Asia represents a growing market for well abandonment, with a large inventory of aging wells requiring intervention in the coming years. The companies said the collaboration is aimed at improving operational efficiency and reducing costs associated with complex P&A campaigns.
The agreement reflects continued development of rigless and non-intrusive technologies to address increasing global decommissioning demand.
