Forum Energy Technologies launches compact LARS for ROV subsea operations
(WO) - Forum Energy Technologies (FET) has introduced a new launch and recovery system (LARS) designed to support inspection and light work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operations.
The Model 6000 (M6000), part of the company’s Dynacon product line, integrates the A-frame, winch and hydraulic power unit into a single skid-mounted package. The configuration is designed to simplify offshore deployment by reducing vessel interface requirements and minimizing setup time.
The system supports inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR), cable lay and subsea survey work, and is compatible with smaller ROV systems. Its compact footprint is intended to improve operational flexibility, particularly for vessels with limited deck space.
“By combining all topside components in a single compact package, we’re helping customers mobilize faster and operate more efficiently,” said Kevin Taylor, Vice President at FET Subsea.
The M6000 includes features such as a gimbal docking head and pre-integrated electrical systems, allowing for plug-and-play deployment. With a safe working load of up to 5,200 kg and umbilical capacity of 3,300 m, the system is configured for a range of subsea operations.
FET said the first unit has been delivered to a U.S.-based client and is already in service following manufacturing and testing at its Texas facility.
