BGN expands LNG shipping fleet with CCEC JV, secures 16-year charter
(WO) — BGN has entered the LNG shipping market through a joint venture with Capital Clean Energy Carriers Corp. (CCEC) to charter and operate its first liquefied natural gas carrier, Amore Mio I.
The agreement establishes a joint venture company, BM Capital LLC, which will manage the vessel under a long-term charter of up to 16 years. The deal marks BGN’s first direct investment in LNG shipping capacity as the company expands its global energy trading and logistics operations.
The Amore Mio I is a 174,000-cubic-meter LNG carrier equipped with onboard reliquefaction systems and designed to meet IMO Tier III emissions standards. Delivery of the vessel is expected in early 2027.
The move reflects growing demand for LNG transport capacity as global gas trade continues to expand, driven by shifting supply patterns and increasing reliance on seaborne LNG. Long-term charter agreements remain a key mechanism for securing vessel availability in a tightening shipping market.
BGN said the joint venture aligns with its strategy to scale its maritime operations and support global LNG flows. The company has outlined plans to further expand its fleet, targeting additional LNG and LPG vessels over the next several years.
For CCEC, the agreement adds to its portfolio of long-term charters and reinforces demand for modern LNG carriers capable of supporting evolving global trade routes.
