Permian basin workforce to be honored at API–PSP industry event
American Petroleum Institute and the Permian Strategic Partnership will host a workforce recognition event in Midland, Texas, this week, highlighting the role of oil and gas employees in supporting U.S. energy security and regional economic development.
The event, scheduled for Jan. 20, 2026, will bring together energy industry leaders, workers and community representatives to honor the oil and gas workforce, with a particular focus on the Permian basin, the nation’s largest producing region.
According to the organizers, the celebration is intended to recognize the contributions of industry employees to powering the U.S. economy, supporting local communities and sustaining domestic energy supply. Representatives from API, PSP and member companies are expected to attend.
The Permian Strategic Partnership is a coalition of more than two dozen energy companies and academic institutions working with regional leaders in West Texas and New Mexico to address infrastructure, workforce and community challenges associated with large-scale oil and gas development. API represents roughly 600 member companies across the U.S. oil and natural gas value chain and supports nearly 11 million jobs nationwide.
The event will be held in Midland, Texas, a hub of Permian basin activity, as U.S. producers continue to balance workforce stability, capital discipline and long-term energy demand.
