EnerMech wins pre-commissioning work for Woodside’s Pluto LNG Train 2

December 09, 2025

(WO) - EnerMech has secured a pre-commissioning contract from Bechtel to deliver chemical cleaning services for Woodside Energy’s Pluto Train 2 LNG development in Karratha, Western Australia, strengthening its role in one of Australia’s most significant LNG expansions.

Under the agreement, EnerMech will support Bechtel, the project’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, by performing chemical cleaning of critical process systems as part of the commissioning phase for Pluto Train 2. The scope includes cleaning the acid gas removal unit (AGRU) and heated water system, using tailored methodologies to meet project specifications and environmental requirements.

Pluto Train 2 will process gas from the Scarborough field and expand Woodside’s existing LNG facility near Karratha. Once complete, the project will add approximately 5 MMtpa of LNG capacity, while associated domestic gas infrastructure is expected to increase output to around 225 terajoules per day.

EnerMech’s scope includes supervision and provision of a specialized technical workforce, along with the supply of chemicals, equipment, instrumentation, consumables and demineralized water. The company will also manage waste handling and disposal through licensed providers to ensure environmental compliance throughout execution.

“This award is strategically important as it reinforces our long-standing collaboration with Bechtel and strengthens our presence in the Australian LNG sector,” said Charles ‘Chuck’ Davison Jr., CEO of EnerMech. “Our teams deliver integrated pre-commissioning solutions that help ensure complex LNG facilities are brought online safely, efficiently and on schedule.”

Mobilization for the Pluto Train 2 campaign is expected to begin in December, with EnerMech’s Asia-Pacific teams already preparing resources to align with construction and commissioning milestones. The company has previously supported major LNG developments in Australia, including Curtis Island, Wheatstone and Gorgon.
