Petrobras taps Acteon for long-term mooring inspection and QA program
(WO) - InterMoor, the moorings and anchors business line of Acteon, has secured a three-year contract with Petrobras to enhance asset integrity across the Brazilian operator’s extensive inventory of mooring equipment. The award follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the companies during the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston earlier this year.
Beginning in December 2025, InterMoor will deliver quality assurance, inspection and digital traceability services for critical components—including anchors, chain, wire and associated accessories—supporting Petrobras’ offshore operations across multiple basins.
The scope includes installation of RFID tags, dimensional and visual inspection, component triage and the deployment of advanced 3D scanning and photogrammetry technologies to improve equipment history, lifecycle management and decision-making.
Work will be carried out at Petrobras facilities in Rio de Janeiro and Macaé, with potential expansion to additional sites nationwide.
“This award is a strong endorsement of our long-standing partnership with Petrobras and our commitment to the safe, efficient management of critical offshore infrastructure,” said David McGuire, EVP, InterMoor at Acteon. “By combining proven mooring expertise with innovative digital monitoring and inspection technologies, we provide the insight and rapid responsiveness our customers need to protect assets and optimize performance across the project lifecycle.”
Acteon has operated in Brazil for more than two decades and maintains offices, engineering and survey capabilities, as well as quayside support at Porto do Açu.
