Texas regulator assesses over $2 million in penalties against oil and gas operators

(WO) – The Railroad Commission of Texas assessed $2,308,419.00 in fines involving 656 enforcement dockets against operators and businesses at the Commissioners’ Conference on Tuesday.

  • Fines Assessed from Master Default Orders - $684,018.00
  • Fines Assessed from Master Agreed Orders - $1,624, 401.00
  • Total Fines Assessed at September 2024 Conference - $2,308,419.00

The commission has primary oversight and enforcement of the state’s oil and gas industry and intrastate pipeline safety.
