ADNOC inks 15-year LNG agreement with IndianOil for Ruwais project

September 12, 2024

(WO) — ADNOC has signed a long-term Heads of Agreement with IndianOil for 1 million metric tonnes per annum (MMtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its Ruwais LNG project in Abu Dhabi.

The 15-year agreement, starting in 2028, positions IndianOil as ADNOC's largest LNG customer, with a total offtake expected to reach 2.2 MMtpa by 2029.

The LNG will be sourced from the lower-carbon Ruwais project, which is currently under development. This deal underscores ADNOC’s commitment to providing secure, lower-carbon energy and strengthens its role in India’s growing energy market. The agreement also reflects the success of the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed in 2022.

ADNOC has now committed over 70% of Ruwais LNG’s production capacity through long-term sales agreements with international partners.
