Texas Senator introduces Natural Gas Tax Repeal Act to eliminate Biden’s new methane emissions tax
(WO) — Energy Workforce & Technology Council (EWTC) issued a statement applauding the introduction of S.4405, the "Natural Gas Tax Repeal Act," by U.S. Senator Ted Cruz. If passed, the act would repeal the recently implemented tax on methane emissions, a move that the EWTC believes is crucial for the future of the energy industry.
“We commend Senator Cruz for his initiative to repeal the onerous methane tax,” said the Energy Workforce President Tim Tarpley. “Energy Workforce companies have utilized American ingenuity and innovation to create technologies that cut energy usage, reduce methane emissions, detect leaks and streamline operations.
“The newly implemented methane tax only increases the costs of energy production in the United States. The reality is that the true impacts of this tax will not be seen in the day-to-day production of oil and gas but in the national economy and the energy workforce. Instead, we should focus on incentivizing technological advancements rather than penalizing domestic energy production.”
EWTC is one of many oil and gas trade groups applauding Senator Cruz’s Natural Gas Tax Repeal Act. Groups like the American Petroleum Institute, Permian Basin Petroleum Association, Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, Independent Petroleum Producers of America and more have voiced their support.
