API supports U.S. energy sector with new Senior VP of Policy, Economics and Regulatory Affairs appointment

WASHINGTON, May 30, 2023 — The American Petroleum Institute (API) announced that Dustin Meyer has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Policy, Economics and Regulatory Affairs.

Meyer previously served as API’s Vice President of Natural Gas Markets, leading the organization’s efforts on domestic and global natural gas markets, as well as natural gas technology and innovation including renewable and differentiated natural gas, hydrogen and the use of carbon capture in the power sector.

“Dustin is recognized across the industry for his deep understanding of markets and geopolitics, dynamic communication style and ability to deliver results in support of America’s energy sector,” said API President and CEO Mike Sommers. “Dustin has a well-earned reputation for his positive and collaborative approach and will now lead a talented team that is at the forefront of shaping API policies, research and economic and regulatory analysis to advocate for our industry’s priorities and advance American energy leadership.”

Prior to joining API, Meyer led analytics, forecasting and consulting services on global LNG and renewable energy markets for Energy Ventures Analysis. He also held analysis positions at PFC Energy and then IHS Energy on upstream investment in North American oil and natural gas, including liquefaction projects in the U.S. and Canada.

Meyer also worked at ICF International on the transportation policy team and for various NGOs. He earned his undergraduate degree at Princeton University and received his Master’s focused on Energy Policy & Economics from Yale University.
