(WO) — Invictus Energy Ltd. has announced a second gas discovery in the Mukuyu-2 well at its 80% owned and operated Cabora Bassa project in Zimbabwe. The recent findings in both the Upper and Lower Angwa reservoirs significantly expand the resource potential in the Mukuyu gas field, marking a major milestone for Invictus.

Following the Mukuyu-2 sidetrack well reaching a Total Depth (TD) of 3,360 meters, wireline logging and formation fluid sampling confirmed the presence of over-pressured gas. Wireline log interpretation estimates a preliminary net pay of 34.9 meters across the Upper Angwa and Lower Angwa formations.

The Mukuyu-2 success, located 7 kilometers from the Mukuyu-1 discovery well, underscores the vast potential of the Mukuyu field with a structural closure of over 200 sq. km.

The discovery's implications extend beyond Mukuyu, with wireline logs suggesting residual hydrocarbons in the Pebbly Arkose and Dande formations, opening up additional exploration potential for future campaigns.

Moving forward, the Exalo Rig 202 will continue wireline logging operations, acquire sidewall cores, and conduct a vertical seismic profile (VSP) for further data calibration. The completion of the sidetrack will pave the way for future flow testing and evaluation of the remaining Lower Angwa, below 3,400 meters MD.

The Mukuyu-2 results will be integrated into geological and geophysical datasets, guiding future exploration and appraisal activities across Invictus Energy's extensive acreage portfolio.
