Vermilion, Aspect and EPH submitted bids for oil and gas acreage in Ukraine

KYIV, Ukraine -- The nine blocks that were opened for PSA tenders in February 2019 have received 22 bids from 13 companies.

Included in these bids are Canadian company Vermilion Energy, state-owned UGV, U.S. private equity firm Sigma Bleyzer, Texas-based producer Aspect Energy, and Slovak E&P company Nafta, backed by sizable European energy holding EPH.

Sofiivska parcel is pointed as the most interesting, nominated by 5 companies (UGV/Vermilion, EPH, DTEK O&G, GeoAlliance, Ukrnafta).

The company that has made the most bids is UGV, with 9 applications, 5 single and 4 joined with Vermilion Energy. In addition, four Ukrainian producers made 2 bids each (UNB, Ukrnafta, DTEK, Zakhidnadraservice). Also, one bid was pointed by each U.S. Sigma/Aspect, Czech EPH, and Ukrainian companies GeoAlliance, Navigator Komplekt and EuroGas Ukraine.

The Intergovernmental Commission has to evaluate the bids within one month and make its recommendations to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to select the winner.
