IPAA responds to FERC ruling that rejects plan to aid coal, nuclear power
WASHINGTON -- IPAA has responded to today's FERC decision to reject Secretary of Energy Rick Perry's plan to prop up coal and nuclear power.
The following statement is from Susan Ginsberg, IPAA vice president of crude oil and natural gas regulatory affairs:
“IPAA finds FERC's reasoning and resulting order to be sound and in keeping with the overwhelming documentation submitted by a diverse group of interested parties. Even the organized markets stated there is no grid reliability emergency. FERC took the reasonable, conservative approach to initiate a new proceeding to further evaluate the resilience of certain bulk power systems. IPAA looks forward to working with FERC in support of reliable and abundant American natural gas supplies that will continue to play a critical role in generating electricity with decreasing emissions.”
