TAM runs PosiFrac Toe Sleeve in Utica shale

October 20, 2015

HOUSTON -- TAM International—an independent oilfield services company providing inflatable packers, swellable packers, and downhole products—has announced the first run of the PosiFrac Toe Sleeve in the Utica shale.

A customer working in the Utica shale in eastern Ohio ran two of TAM’s 5.5 in. PosiFrac Toe Sleeves in a single well in order to perform a casing integrity test before fracturing out of the toe at high flow rates. They conducted a 12,500 psi casing test at approximately 10,000 ft total vertical depth for 30 minutes, then opened the tools during bleed-off as planned.

“As expected, both PosiFrac Toe Sleeves functioned flawlessly,” said Mike Beleau, global product line manager. “The customer was very pleased with the performance of the sleeves and plans on utilizing the technology on future wells.”

The PosiFrac Toe Sleeve is ideal for both cemented and uncemented completions where a pressure test is desired to confirm casing integrity prior to opening the toe sleeve for fracturing operations.
