The award – presented in front of an audience of more than 500 members and guests at the Natural History Museum in London – recognizes an EIC member company that has demonstrated superiority in the energy supply chain.

SPX Flow beat competition from a wide selection of submissions to scoop the accolade.

SPX Flow’s ClydeUnion Pumps brand offered a compelling case to win the competition, with its unique Turbine Water Lubricated (TWL) reactor cooling water pump. The pumping solution, approved by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, ensures that emergency reactor cooling is sustained during complete station blackouts and can function even in extreme conditions like flooding. This helps to protect the future of nuclear energy as a safe, sustainable and secure power source.

The judging panel of senior representatives from BP, Centrica, EDF Energy and Sasol praised the innovation for its meaningful contribution to reducing the consequential risk of catastrophic events like Fukushima. They also complimented SPX Flow for its excellent market research skills, tapping into the lessons learned from this disaster.

Dr. Colin Elcoate, V.P. of Business Development for SPX Flow, said, “SPX is proud of its world-class engineers in the UK and we are delighted that the quality products and services they are delivering is recognized by our peers. This award is testament to the work that our global company is doing at a UK level.”

In addition to an outright winner this year, the judging panel highly commended runner-up Tracerco for its entry. The technology company’s Discovery subsea CT scanner, developed with assistance from Norwegian operator Statoil, examines pipelines from the outside to gain an accurate picture of the internal condition, with no need to remove the protective coating.
