Petrobras’ Tanganika well hits gas in Espírito Santo basin

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Petrobras has discovered a new gas accumulation in the Espírito Santo basin post-salt cluster.

The discovery was made when drilling well 3-ESS-222, known as Tanganika, at a water depth of 1,043 m, within the Malombe Discovery Evaluation Plan (PAD) area, 72 km off the Espírito Santo coast.

The discovery was confirmed by well logging in reservoirs at a depth of around 2,880 m. The total depth of the well is 2,996 m.

The consortium operated by Petrobras (89.89%) in partnership with Repsol Sinopec (11.11%) will proceed with operations as planned, and will run a formation test to better evaluate the discovery.
