COLUMNS
Perhaps we are witnessing the beginning of a complex negotiation between all GOM(A) production owners to improve, safely, all operations and open areas to new exploration, regardless of claims.
The last five columns have looked backward to measured how far drilling has advanced, and outlined some of the issues the industry still has and outlined the ways we could get even better and prevent performance issues.
As I write this column from the sunny climes of Madrid, World Oil’s Deepwater Development Conference (MCEDD) is underway and thriving. There is no mistaking the renewed, growing interest in deepwater projects, and the attendance and program confirm it.
The offshore crane industry is undergoing significant transformation, driven by a push for enhanced safety standards, sustainability initiatives and technological innovations. In response to increasing pressure to meet growing energy demand, operators are adopting new standards and tools to manage the complexities of modern lifting operations. Safety continues to be the top priority, but the challenges presented by tighter regulations, shifting market demands and the evolution of technology are creating a more dynamic and competitive environment for offshore crane operations.
FEATURES
While still the dominant player, Petrobras may see its market share decrease as new companies enter the country. Brazil's oil production should increase, due to development in subsalt regions and new acreage. Ethanol will gain market share from gasoline in Brazil, with significant growth in ethanol demand anticipated.
This article presents a unique experience where logging-while-drilling data could be streamed with high quality in real time, in a record-length extended-reach well drilled through complex carbonate reservoirs with deployment of an advanced new solution.
Atlas Energy Solutions delivered 100 loads of proppant as the first semi-truck customer to make driverless deliveries with its own RoboTruck fleet. Atlas concurrently launched the Dune Express, a 42-mi autonomous conveyor system that delivers sand to the firm’s autonomous RoboTrucks.
SPECIAL FOCUS: SUSTAINABILITY
Deployment of a new azimuthal resistivity tool for coiled tubing drilling not only marks the first time it is being used on coiled tubing but also highlights just how effective it could be in helping operators realize real efficiencies on their projects.
Part 1: This article provides a vision of upstream operations in a Net Zero emissions (NZE) future and reviews state-of-the-art technologies and future concepts that will enable the NZE scenario for the upstream sector.
The Reclaim™ plug and abandonment (P&A) system helped a tier-one operator permanently abandon a well at the end of its economic life. The system facilitated plugging on coiled tubing and ensured full lateral isolation over a 277-ft zone in only two days.
