Aurecon has appointed Colby Hauser as Client Relationship executive for the company’s oil and gas division. Hauser will be based in the Perth office, and will focus on business development in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Papau New Guinea. Colby was previously employed with Industry Capability Network, in the role of National Sector manager for oil and gas.


Chevron has announced several personnel moves. Rhonda I. Zygocki, executive vice president, Policy and Planning, will retire from the company after 34 years on Feb. 1, 2015. Zygocki held positions of increasing responsibility, including managing director of Chevron Australia. She began her career in petroleum engineering with Chevron Canada Resources in Calgary. In addition, Lydia I. Beebe is retiring as corporate secretary and chief governance officer after 37 years with the company. Succeeding Beebe, effective May 1, 2015, is Mary A. Francis, who will counsel the board of directors and senior management on corporate governance matters and serve on the Law Function Executive Committee. 


Following the resignation of Ryan A. Michaluk as CFO, CWC Energy Services Corp. has promoted Karen Dilon to V.P., Finance, and controller, effective Oct. 8. She also will fill the role of interim CFO until a suitable replacement is found for Michaluk.


Focusing on the U.S. oil development and production, London-based independent Nighthawk Energy plc has appointed Richard (“Rick”) W. McCullough as executive chairman, effective Oct. 1, 2014. Most recently, McCullough served as president and CEO of Gasource, LLC, and as an investment banker at JP Morgan. He has more than 30 years of experience, including a five-year tenure at PDC Energy, where he was chief executive and chairman from 2008 until 2011.


As of Oct. 1, 2014, Muhamad Husen has been appointed acting president/director of Indonesia’s PT Pertamina. Previously, Husen served three years as the state firm’s upstream director. Before that, he was head of the Exploration Division at LEMIGAS, Indonesia’s Research and Development Centre for Oil and Gas Technology, from 2001 to 2005, and then he was deputy assistant of petroleum at the Coordinating Economic Ministry, from 2005 to 2011. 


Murphy Oil Corporation has announced some executive staff changes. Bill H. Stobaugh, executive V.P., Corporate Planning and Business Development, will retire March 1, 2015, after nearly 20 years with the company. In addition, Kevin G. Fitzgerald will retire on March 1 as executive V.P. and CFO after 33 years of service. Succeeding. Fitzgerald is John W. Eckart, who is currently senior V.P. and controller.


The Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) has named Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples as its next president, succeeding Robert (“Rob”) Looney, who is retiring at the end of 2014 after 26 years. Staples brings a wealth of governmental experience, having served as agriculture commissioner, state senator, state representative and mayor pro tem in Palestine, Texas. He holds a degree in agricultural economics, with honors, from Texas A&M University.


Calgary-based Bonavista Energy Corporation announced several executive level changes at the end of September. Bruce Jensen has been promoted to COO from his previous role as V.P., Engineering. He has been with Bonavista since 2002.  In addition, Scott Hanson has resigned as V.P., Production. Succeeding Hanson, and promoted to the position, is Colin Ranger, who was production manager.


Gene Therriault, deputy director for energy policy at the Alaska Energy Authority, has been elected as vice-chair of the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) board of directors. As vice-chair, Therriault will continue to focus on, and inform, six U.S. Territory and 50 state energy offices, as they interact with the federal government on energy matters. His previous NASEO involvement includes pressing the DOE on the importance of Alaskan natural gas exports, and explaining the consequences of proposed air emission regulations to top EPA personnel.


API has promoted Stacy Linden to general counsel, effective Oct. 2, 2014. She joined API in 2007 and has served as managing counsel for legal affairs at API since late 2009, providing litigation counsel, advice on political and regulatory compliance issues, and legal strategy for the oil and gas sector. Preceding her tenure at API, Linden served as litigation associate for several D.C.-area law firms. 


Ivanhoe Energy Inc. has appointed Blair Vago as acting V.P. of Finance and CFO. He succeeds Greg Phaneuf, who has resigned. Previously, Vago was the Canadian firm’s divisional controller in Ecuador.


Cameron has appointed Scott Rowe to the newly created position of president and COO, effective Oct. 1, 2014. He will report directly to Jack Moore, who remains as chairman and CEO. Rowe has served with Cameron for 12 years, most recently as CEO of OneSubsea.


Athabasca Oil Corporation made several executive changes. Sveinung Svarte retired as president and CEO, effective Sept. 30. He will remain on the board as vice chairman. Succeeding Svarte as president and CEO is board chairman Tom Buchanan. Ron Eckhardt will take over the role of lead director of the board, and replace Buchanan on the Compensation and Governance Committee.


Peter Blake has been appointed chairman of the UK’s National Subsea Research Initiative (NSRI), and Dr. Gordon Drummond has joined as project director. Blake is Subsea Systems Manager at Chevron’s Energy Technology Company and Drummond is Technology Manager at Subsea 7. The NSRI has been set up to ensure the UK’s subsea technology needs are understood and met within the technology strategies and associated funding landscape. NRSI board appointments include Neil Gordon of Subsea UK, Paul White of GE Oil & Gas, Paul Charlton of PDL Solutions, Jason Tisdale of Fugro, Professor Albert Roger of University of Aberdeen, and John Mair. Funding for the first three years of the NRSI, which is a not-for-profit organization, has been secured from Scottish Enterprise, Subsea UK and industry outlets with more funding expected in the coming months.
