Varel International appointed Ron Mayo as the company’s new Gulf Coast regional manager. In this role, Mayo will be responsible for managing the operations and sales team for South Texas, southern Louisiana, southern Mississippi and the Gulf of Mexico. Most recently, he was US sales manager for Smith Bits.

BJ Services Company announced that Iain Anderson was appointed operations manager – Thailand for BJ Tubular & Completion Assembly Services. He is responsible for managing the division’s Thailand facilities, as well as driving expansion efforts throughout the country. He served most recently as operations manager of BJ Completion Assembly Services in Aberdeen, Scotland. Also, Ken Stewart will replace Anderson as operations manager of BJ Completion Assembly Services. With 25 years in the oil industry, Stewart will be responsible for all division operations, including personnel, HSE, quality assurance, environmental and financial.

Venoco, Inc., promoted Mark DePuy to senior VP and COO. DePuy joined Venoco in August 2005 as VP for Northern Assets after 27 years with UNOCAL Corp. and affiliates. His work experience includes over 13 years in Coastal California operations, both offshore and onshore.

Craig Ivie was named director of Roller Cone Engineering at ReedHycalog. Ivie has been with ReedHycalog for more than 19 years. In his new position, he will be responsible for the design and manufacturing of Roller Cone drill bits on a worldwide basis.

Robert Duby was appointed president of Wood Group Field Services, Inc. He will have responsibility for all of the union field service activities across the US of the Heavy Industrial Turbines business of Wood Group’s Gas Turbine Services Division.

Fugro Robertson Inc. appointed Dr. Alex Blacque as structural geologist. In addition to his geological duties, Blacque will develop new business for Fugro Robertson in the Gulf of Mexico. Previously, he was in Fugro’s North Wales office, where he worked on both global and regional studies.

Ashen & Associates, an executive search firm placing key personnel in oilfield and operating companies, named Linda Silinsky as senior VP. Silinsky has over 25 years of industry experience with Dresser Industries and Schlumberger, from where she recently retired. She has served on the Public Affairs Committees of both the SEG and NOIA.

Total announced several key appointments. Philippe Armand is named general manager of Total E&P Indonesia in Jakarta. He joined the group in 1972, and has served as VP, Americas, since December 2000. Philippe Chalon was appointed senior VP, Finance Economics Information Systems. Chalon has held a number of positions in the upstream branch and has been chief information officer for Exploration-Production since 2002. Charles Mattenet was appointed senior VP, Asia & Far East. He joined the group’s R&D department in 1973, and was appointed senior VP, strategy, business development and research in 1998. He has been a member of the Group Management Committee since 2002. Patrick Pouyanne was named senior VP, strategy, business development and R&D. From 1989 to 1997, Pouyanne held several positions in the French Industry Ministry and the Cabinet of the prime minister and also in ministerial cabinets. He joined the group in 1997, and in August of 2002 became senior VP, finance economics information systems. Michel Seguin was appointed senior VP, Americas. He has been with the group since 1972, and has served as senior VP Asia and Far East since 1996.

INTEC named Bruce Crager CEO of INTEC Engineering. Crager brings more than 30 years of oil and gas industry experience. Previously, he was president of ABB Offshore Systems Inc., and before that was senior VP of Oceaneering International Inc., with responsibilities for mobile offshore production systems. For the last two years, he has been an independent consultant.

Knight Oil Tools has assigned Gary Jones as corporate account representative for the Houston area. He has more than 30 years of experience related to rental tools and oilfield fishing tools. Most recently, Jones served in a similar capacity in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Boots & Coots International Well Control announced that Andrew Schiro, Jr., has joined the business development team as global sales executive. Schiro has 34 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Most recently, he was a senior project manager for three years with Weatherford International.

Ernst & Young LLP appointed Rob Jessen as global leader of the Ernst & Young Oil & Gas Industry Sector. Jessen will ensure integration of the company’s oil and gas services in regions around the world. Previously, Jessen served as the global managing director of oil and gas services for Capgemini.

Cantor Fitzgerald Brokerage, an environmental brokerage, has hired Spencer Vosko as a manager to run its Crude Oil, Refined Products and Natural Gas Brokerage Desks in New York City. Prior to joining Cantor, Vosko headed the Crude Oil and Fuel Oil Desk at ICAP in Houston.
