BJ Process and Pipeline Services (BJ PPS) has combined two previously divided geographic regions into a single Europe-Africa Region Business Unit (RBU). Regional business unit manager for the new RBU is Ian Storey. The restructure has also triggered a number of appointments throughout the region. Kyle Ruzick has been named Nigeria and NEWA pipeline manager in Aberdeen. Pete Rhodes has been appointed NEWA process manager. To support the division’s pipeline and process service lines in West Africa, Ewen Kleppang has been appointed business development manager, West Africa, based in Capetown. Richard O’Dowd continues as business development manager in Aberdeen. Julian Manning will continue as manager, CENA, with responsibility for bolstering the division’s presence in Europe and North Africa. Paul Sergeant comes into the senior management team as technical manager in support of both pipeline and process service lines. The new HSE manager for the Europe-Africa RBU is John Carmichael.

FloaTEC, a newly formed joint venture between Keppel FELS and J. Ray McDermott, appointed John J. Murray director of technology development. Previously product development manager with Technip, Murray is responsible for technology development as well as developing and maintaining tools, systems, and procedures to support projects and R&D.

Lori Wrotenbery, the director of the Oil and Gas Conservation Division of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, was elected to chair the board of directors of STRONGER, Inc., a non-profit organization established to review the environmental programs of 37 oil-producing states in the US. STRONGER was formed in 1999 to reinvigorate and carry forward the state review process begun cooperatively in 1988 by the US EPA and the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.

PGS Onshore appointed Gehrig Schultz to the position of VP, Eastern Hemisphere. He has over 20 years of experience in managing international seismic acquisition, data processing and new venture opportunities. Most recently, he was VP, Worldwide Business Development. Terry Visser has been named VP, Shallow Water Operations. He has over 25 years of experience managing international seismic operations in the Far East and Latin America. Previously, he was VP, Eastern Hemisphere. Both men are based in London.

Varel International appointed William “Greg” Presley its new Mid-Continent region engineer, responsible for the Texas Panhandle, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, Kansas, Rocky Mountain region and Northeastern portion of the US. He will liaise between tech sales representatives and product managers.

Mustang Engineering named Steven R. Knowles president, succeeding co-founders William G. Higgs and Paul E. Redmon, who will serve as co-chairmen of Mustang. Knowles has more than 20 years of industry experience, most recently overseeing the company’s six business units.

Gulf Energy, a global consortium of energy investors and consultants, announced the members of the International Advisory Board to the multi-billion-dollar Energy City Qatar (ECQ) project, drawn from different geographical areas. Richard H. Matzke, retired vice chairman of ChevronTexaco Corp., is the chairman of the American-Iranian Council, and serves on the board of the National Committee on US-China Relations. Harald Norvik served as deputy energy minister and secretary of state for the Norwegian government before becoming CFO of Aker Group, CEO of Astrup Høyer, CEO of STATOIL and chairman of ECON Management. Bernard de Combret served 24 years at TotalFinaElf, as CEO of Marketing and Refining, CEO of Trading and Transportation, and CEO of the Gas and Power division. Henri Phillippe Reichstul is an economist and international consultant who has held various high level positions in South American business and the Brazilian government. Simon Tay is a lawyer who was recently a visiting professor at Harvard Law School and Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He has also served as a member of the Singapore parliament.

Occidental Petroleum Corp. promoted James M. Lienert to executive VP, Finance and Planning, reporting to Steve Chazen, senior executive VP and CFO. Lienert most recently served as president of Occidental Chemical Corp.

Cudd Well Control appointed John Whitehead as a senior well control specialist. He has over 35 years of oilfield experience in all aspects of well control projects on land and offshore throughout the US, Canada, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, India and South America.

Azura Energy Systems, Inc., named Curtis D. Burton as the company’s CEO. Burton, a 27-year marketing and operations veteran, has experience spanning 10 countries and a wide range of business settings.

Stephen L. Foan has accepted the position of secretary and treasurer for independent oil and gas producer Golden Apple Oil and Gas, Inc. Foan brings over 30 years of experience to the company.
